Inter Island Airways (Fiji) Limited is a subsidiary of Aviana Airways Corporation. Based in Suva, Fiji the company utilizes the "Inter Island Airways" and "Inter Island Air" name brand and plans to launch domestic air services in early-2019 between Nadi and Suva, to Labasa, Savusavu, Taveuni, Kadavu and Rotuma. The long-term airline base of operations will be at Suva Nausori International Airport, located approximately 25 minutes drive from downtown and capital city of Suva. Initial operating base of operations will be at Nadi International Airport.
Inter Island Airways (Fiji) Limited will ultimately interconnect its operations and flights with American Samoa-based Inter Island Airways to form a regional network of interconnecting island routes currently not served (or under served) yet have great business and travel potential to expand seamless user travel experience throughout the South Pacific. As part of our long-term plans to expand and grow in Fiji, and to improve aviation infrastructure throughout the airports that Inter Island Airways (Fiji) will operate into, Aviana Airways plans to construct new aircraft hangar and support facilities that will stimulate growth and business opportunities in the Nausori/Suva area. This includes an FBO facility to service additional aircraft (corporate, private, charter) that are bound to increase air traffic into Nausori Airport. This in turn will create new jobs and and spurn new supporting businesses that will add to Fiji's growing economy.
With approval granted on August 10, 2012 by Fiji's Air Transport Licensing Board (ATLB) for scheduled Domestic Air Service, final completion and issuance of an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) by the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF)*, Inter Island Airways (Fiji) Limited plans to operate an initial fleet of Dornier 228-212 (18-seats) and DH8-100/200 "Dash 8" (37-seats) aircraft from its operating base in Suva in early-2019 to the following destinations:
Expansion into the regional island countries of Tuvalu, Wallis & Futuna, Samoa, American Samoa, Niue and Tonga is planned for late-2017 (Pending application approval by ATLB), using Bombardier CRJ-200ER/700 Jet type aircraft. The new "Inter Island" South Pacific Regional Network will comprise of routes within Fiji, within both Samoa and American Samoa, Tonga, Niue, Wallis & Futuna, Vanuatu, Tuvalu and the Cook Islands.
The Inter Island Regional Network with main hubs at Suva and Pago Pago will provide large air carriers with an interconnect/code-sharing partner solution to seamlessly book and move (transfer) passengers within the vast South Pacific islands, to and from their existing routes thus improving the passenger experience. *NOTE: (a) Inter Island Airways (Fiji) Limited filed a formal application with Fiji's Air Transport Licensing Board (ATLB) on March 12, 2012 to operate scheduled domestic air service within Fiji. Inter Island Airways (Fiji) was granted 11 licenses by ATLB on August 10, 2012 as per its application request; (b) Inter Island Airways (Fiji) Limited continues formal application work with CAAF for its Fiji AOC, with anticipated completion and issuance of the AOC from CAAF in early-2019 and; (c) Pending formal AOC issuance, Inter Island Airways (Fiji) Limited plans to launch domestic air services to destinations listed above in early-2019 Updated: January 1, 2018 |
